AgeMatch.com Review – More Scammers, Less Legit Members
Finding a Sugar Baby on your own isn’t a walk in the park. Knowing this, entrepreneurs created sugar dating websites to help Sugar Daddies and Sugar Babies connect with each other and profit from it. But even though it may seem like your only option to find your ideal girl, there are actually other options you can try. One, of course, is to join regular dating sites and try to reach out to younger women who may be open to the sugar dating arrangement. And another option is to sign up on a dating site that connects older people with younger matches. AgeMatch.com is one such site. It doesn’t claim to be a sugar dating site, but rather, a website for older men looking for younger women and older women looking for younger men.
Initial Thoughts
Age Match is one of the oldest dating websites in the world. As a Silicon Valley firm that has operated for over 17 years, it doesn’t have a hard time luring in new members as people normally trust businesses that have been around for a long time. And nothing about the site reeks of sketchiness. In fact, it’s the opposite—the website looks pretty clean and legitimate. And it seems to focus more on actual romance and helping people find the love of their life instead of helping people establish a mutually-beneficial arrangement, like sugar dating websites do. It looks like your average dating site, except it’s catered towards May-December pairings.
Browsing the Site
Utilizing a simple web design, Age Match has a neat-looking homepage that looks rather “professional”. Unlike many sugar dating sites and even normal dating sites on the Internet, AgeMatch.com’s homepage has believable yet high-quality photos of May-December pairings. The predominant use of the color white and some uses of the color blue, as well as the neat organization of text, make the website more inviting than most dating sites on the market. It’s very easy to navigate, and all the important links are listed in the homepage’s footer section. As you scroll down the page, you’ll see a text about older men dating younger women and another text about older women dating younger men. Looks like they’re going for the liberal, more gender-equal vibe, and it’s working.
Signing Up
Making an account is a no-brainer; just click on “Sign Up” in the top right corner or sign in with your Facebook account. You’ll have to fill out a form and agree to their Service Agreement and Privacy Policy. It’ll then send a verification code to the mobile phone number you entered and you’ll have to provide that to proceed to the next step. After typing in your desired username and password, you’ll have to create your profile by filling in the required details, then you can upload a photo (which you can always do later), add a profile headline, a description of yourself, and a description of your match. One source states that your profile has to be approved before it goes live, so you may want to put some thought into making your profile. But regardless, you can now start using the website and browse the listings.
Sugar Baby Listings
Using the Quick Search feature will tell you that there are around 500 matches in the United States from ages 20 to 30. That’s not much compared to many sugar dating sites and regular dating sites. Because of the small number of women in that age range, it may be harder for you to find a match here than on a sugar dating website. But then again, 500 still seems like a pretty good number if you don’t compare it to other dating sites, so there’s still a chance it could work for you. Since you can view the listings with a free account, it may be worth it to check Age Match, even if it’s just to look at the members. A lot of the listings have an attractive display photo, so it’d at least make for a fun browsing experience.
Unfortunately, several reviews about the site on the Internet reveal that there’s a lack of active members on the site. Which means that, even if you do find 20 women that you like, you may only get a response from one or two women—or even none. And even when you do get a response, it’s highly likely that she’s not who she says she is. At least according to many user reviews about Age Match.
Apparently, there are so many scammers on the site that Age Match members have been ditching it one by one. The site has a blog, which works more like a forum, that allows members to post and allows others to respond or comment. One member posted a blog saying that he gave up his premium membership due to the high number of scammers. Many other members were quick to respond saying they had had the exact same experience. And while the site does give you a free premium month for reporting five scammers, it seems you need to keep a list of them and send this list to Age Match to get your free month. One member actually had an idea—the site likes having pretty female scammers because it attracts more male members. Without them, “few to no men would be paying” to use Age Match. Yikes.
Fees and Billing
Age Match isn’t actually pricey compared to most, if not all sugar dating sites on the web. But then again, it’s not really a sugar dating site. For one month of Gold subscription, it’s only $29.95. For a three-month subscription, it’s $19.95/month and for a six-month subscription, it’s $15.95/month. The Gold membership comes with a variety of useful features, such as full access to Age Match’s mobile app, 24/7 phone service, the ability to send messages and initiate chatting, advanced search capabilities, showing up at the top in searches and many more. If the possibility of being scammed doesn’t sound too off-putting, you can try the Gold membership for a month and see how it goes.
Conclusion – Rating: 2
Website design, navigation and sign-up process-wise, Age Match isn’t bad. It may even be better than half of the sugar dating sites on the Internet. But since it fails to deliver when it comes to their members, it gets a low score of 2 from us. Sure, many of the members look attractive in their photos, but it’s useless if they’re not active. What’s worse, there are so many complaints about scammers that it’s better to just skip it and find another website to find Sugar Babies in.
